KyMBA Louisville presents our vision for a world class 100 mile urban human powered sports trail system in Louisville Kentucky

12 December 2011 One Comment

Almost all 100 mile mountain bike trail systems are in rural areas and there are no 100 mile urban mountain bike trail systems in the Eastern United States.  Louisville Kentucky is blessed with a wonderful park system and that is what sets us apart. As a community how do we leverage our green spaces to truly improve our quality of life and help Louisville be a more competitive city.  Our answer is to realize an  urban trail system that will put Louisville on the map as a major off road trail destination.  We developed this presentation for the Louisville Pecha Kucha #6 at 21c on Dec 7.

That is awesome! Sounds like a great undertaking and I really hope that this works out for you! Urban trails are great. I live in St. Paul MN and we have tons of great trails in the Metro area and they are a great asset to our community!
Here is our local capter of IMBA http://www.morcmtb.org/
As well this project looks similar to the undertaking of our neighbors to the north Duluth, MN
This my write up with a few links!

You might want to consider contacting some of these people as MORC is great at reaching out to help with these types of project and might have some suggestions for you and the folks at COGGS (the people behind the Duluth Travers) just wrote a $250,000 grant to get a project just like yours completed!

Good luck, I’ll keep my eyes open. Might have to be making a trip to KY soon!
