Pennyrile MTB Trails – Pennyrile State Forrest
The Pennyrile MTB Trails offer many cool old school features. Trailhead is conveniently located off of Highway 398, across the street from the Pennyrile State Park Campground. The current White Trails are a novice difficulty, offering 3.2miles of a beautiful ride along a flowing creek and wonderful rock bluffs, and some drops with some challenging climbs. Currently the White trails have a 1000ft elevation change. These are currently rideable however they are being re-routed to create a more sustainable trail. The Orange trail is a beginner trail that is the eastern Boundary of the park which is a nice cruising trail of 1.5 miles. There is a new skills area added off of the Lower White Trail called the DZ (Drop Zone) it has multiple natural drops for a nice challenge for more skilled riders. More trails are to be added in 2021. This will get the trail system well over 12 miles.
Pennyrile State Park offers great amenities to assist while not on the trails. Hotel, cabins, campground, restaurant, minigolf, and a beautiful lake are all right across the street from the trailhead.
SW KyMBA Trail Leader is William Dalziel. Please reach out to him if you would like to help get involved stewarding the trail at Pennyrile. Pennyrile Mountain Bikers FB Group can be found at:
