Weldon Peete Park/Mitch McConnell Park

15 April 2011 No Comment

The Bowling Green chapter of KyMBA has been working with the Bowling Green Riverfront Foundation (BGRF) to help them form a recreation center in downtown riverfront Bowling Green, KY.  The Bowling Green Riverfront Foundation (BGRF) has proposed three projects for that area. The projects are a whitewater park, bouldering area and bike park. Bowling Green KyMBA is helping the riverfront foundation facilatate the bike park project.

We are breaking the bike park into three phases. Phase 1 will be to build 1.5 miles of sustainable natural surface trail. Phase 2 will be to build a pump track on the old city landfill site. We estimate phase two to start in early 2012. Phase 3 of the bike park will be to add a skills area inside of the singletrack at Weldon Peete Park/Mitch McConnell Park.

Over the last couple weeks the BGRF presented the proposal to the Bowling Green City of Commission and Bowling Green Parks and Recreation. Both parties support the three part project and Bowling Green Parks and Recreation gave us permission to start clearing the corridor for the first phase of the bike park!
